On Peakon, it's possible to combine the results of two or more segments into one new segment for analysis.
For example, let's imagine that you have a department attribute with marketing and sales team segments. This marketing and sales team have members in two countries - the UK and the US. You have an attribute for region with US and UK segments. You need to add a manager to the marketing and sales team segments but the manager should only see the portion of results for the UK team members, not the US members.
This can be solved by creating a new attribute for such special cases. Every time you encounter a need for seeing a consolidated dashboard view of data from multiple segments, you can follow these steps:
- Manually add a new segment to your special cases attribute and give it a name that's contextual to the data it will later contain.
- Navigate to the Employee page and use the filters to filter on the data that you need. For example, in the scenario described above, I would first filter on the marketing team segment and also the UK segment.
- Bulk update these employees and for the special attribute value, select the segment you created in step 1
- Filter on sales team and UK and bulk update these employees as in the previous step.
When the next survey round goes out you will see that data populate for this new segment you created.
If you need to apply the changes retroactively, make sure you backdate the change to a specific time in point when you're bulk updating your filtered results on the employee page. This will then capture previous survey results and place them into the special segment.
When you update your employee records, segments you've added to the special cases attribute will not be updated, unless you've also added this attribute's values to the file you've uploaded.
